Every pet size tool on this site, in one list

Thirteen tools for dogs and cats, grouped by the decision you are about to make — and every page tells you which of its numbers come from a published source and which are our own margin, so measure first where you can.

Dog sizing tools

Dog Crate Sizes Calculator

Work out which crate length your dog needs, and why.

Takes your dog's weight, height or breed and turns it into a crate length. Includes the 24-breed table and the measuring guide.

Dog Weight Calculator

What should your dog weigh? Compare with the AKC range for its breed.

Enter a weight and pick a breed: you get the AKC adult range, where your dog sits against it, and the body-condition check that matters more than the scale.

Open the tool →

Dog Crate Size Chart by Breed

53 breeds, with the weight every figure was derived from.

A lookup table built from AKC breed weights, showing you the weight behind each crate length so you can check our arithmetic.

Dog Harness Size Chart

Chest girth, and why a “medium” is not the same in every brand.

Measures the one number harnesses are built around, then checks it against the ranges on the harness you are actually buying.

Open the tool →

Dog Collar Size Chart

Neck size — and why it is not the length of the collar.

The most common collar mix-up, sorted out: the size refers to the neck, not the strap. Includes the collar-versus-harness comparison.

Open the tool →

Dog Bed Size Chart

Bed length from your dog's body length, and how it sleeps.

Measure nose to tip of tail, then add room for a curled, side or sprawled sleeper. Includes why bed size names are not a standard.

Dog feeding and energy

Dog Feeding Calculator

Turn the feeding table on your dog food bag into cups per meal.

You type the amount printed on your bag; it works out the portion, the grams, and how long the bag lasts. We do not invent a feeding amount.

Open the tool →

Dog Calorie Calculator

Daily calorie range, reproduced from the published WSAVA chart.

Enter your dog's weight for the published kcal range — plus what we found when we checked the chart's own arithmetic.

Open the tool →

Puppy Feeding Chart by Age

How many meals a day at each stage of the first year.

The AKC first-year feeding timeline, plus a calculator that splits your bag's daily amount into meals.

Dog age and growth

Dog Age Calculator

Dog years to human years — two published methods, side by side.

The AVMA curve and the 2019 epigenetic clock formula, shown together with the gap between them. Includes why multiply-by-seven is wrong.

Open the tool →

Puppy Growth Chart Selector

Which growth chart fits your puppy, and how often to weigh.

The chart is not a weight predictor — it checks growth. Includes the 12-week rule and the giant-breed limit.

Cat tools

Cat Age Calculator

Cat years to human years, and the life stage that goes with it.

The International Cat Care table, plus where two veterinary bodies disagree on when a cat becomes senior.

Open the tool →

Cat Litter Box Size

How big a litter box, and how many you actually need.

The 1.5-times-the-cat rule, why the veterinary guideline says most boxes are too small, and the one-per-cat-plus-one rule.

How to choose the right tool

Three rules cover almost every case.

Questions we get a lot

Which tool should I start with?

Start with the measurement, not the product. Weigh or measure your dog first, then open the tool for the thing you are about to buy — crate, harness, collar, bed, food, or a chart you only want to read.

Do I need a tape measure?

For harnesses, collars and beds, yes — those need a real measurement. For crates and food you can start from weight, then confirm against the chart before you buy.

Why do some pages say a number is an estimate?

Because no organization publishes a number for everything. Where an authority publishes a rule we quote it; where we apply our own margin, the page says so in that section rather than presenting it as a standard.

Do these tools work for cats too?

Two of them do: cat age and cat litter box size. The rest are built around dog measurements, and each page states the limits where they matter.
